The first Security and Defence Talks discussion was dedicated to the current state of preparation of the new strategic documents of Slovak republic – Security and Defence Strategy, which should be finished by the end of this year. That is because the current Slovak strategic document were adopted back in 2005 so the documents do not reflect today´s state of security enviroment. However, there have already been an attempt to renew these documents in 2017, but these documents were only recognized by the government, not by the National Council of Slovak republic.

The state secretary of Ministry of defence, Marian Majer, gave opening speech at the discussion. The event was also joined by the director of security policy department at Ministry of foreign affairs, Ľubomír Čaňo, as well as Martin Sklenár, the director of defence policy department at Ministry of defence.
