Together on Security and Defence
Slovak Security Policy Institute successfully organized on 7–8 April 2017 the second annual conference of the Slovak security and defence community „Together on Security and Defence“.
The topics of discussions in Beladice were focused on three main areas concerning Slovak security and defence. First was the focus on challenges and threats the Slovak Republic is facing which are stemming from changed security environment and how the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic are capable fulfilling security commitments in context of their prepared modernisation. Special attention was put also on development of the Cyber Security capabilities in the Slovak Republic. One of the most important challenges the Slovak Republic is currently facing are growing extremism, radicalisation and Russian propaganda. Relevant experts discussed also the absence of the strategic communication in security and defence which has significant impact on public perception of foreign and defence policy priorities of the Slovak Republic.
The conference was attended by more than 50 representatives of the ministries and parliament, non-governmental analysts, academicians, diplomats and private companies. We are pleased that invitation to the conference was accepted by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic gen. Milan Maxim what is a clear proof that the Armed Forces of Slovak Republic are interested in ongoing communication and contacts with the Slovak Security community as well as the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Mr. Róbert Ondrejcsák.
